Cawkers Well station at Wilcannia, NSW sold a line of Hereford weaner steers for $4.30/kg on Auctions Plus on Friday October 13th. The lot of 46 steers averaged 169.9 kgs, with a top weight of 230kgs.
This is a great result considering the station has only received 80mm of rain in the last 12 months. Joel Townsing, owner of Cawkers Well is impressed that his Hereford herd can maintain condition under such seasonal duress. “Auctions Plus has been a good selling medium for us and we feel that it is increasing our network of buyers. Bidding was frenetic and I am guessing that’s because a number of previous purchasers have found that Cawkers Well cattle performed well.” Mr Townsing said.
Agent for Cawkers Well, Troy Hartmann (Landmark Hay) also commented that it was a great sale for the Townsing family who put a lot of time, money and effort into producing good Hereford cattle.
