Herefords Australia is one of Australia’s largest and most respected beef breed organisations with a mission to produce high quality beef for the Australian beef industry from Hereford based cattle.
The organisation has identified a need to increase the acceptance, profile, demand and ultimately supply of Hereford and Hereford cross cattle within the commercial sector. This position will be pivotal in driving the demand for Hereford and Hereford cross cattle by developing strategies and programs to increase that demand.
Duties will include identifying, developing and maintaining effective relationships with the beef industry’s commercial sector including breeding, backgrounding, finishing, feedlotting, processing, exporting and marketing to promote Hereford and Hereford cross cattle.
It is envisaged the successful candidate will have at least 5 years work experience in an agricultural or agricultural-related industry with a strong preference for commercial beef industry experience. Degree-level education in an agricultural-related discipline will be highly regarded but not essential. Knowledge and understanding of contemporary beef genetics, BREEDPLAN and EBVs will be valued as will a working knowledge of MSA and EU accreditation systems. The ability to manage a number of concurrent and complex R&D and commercial projects is also a key responsibility.
We are seeking a well organised, determined individual who is a self-motivated, self-directed, confident communicator capable of building effective relationships easily and managing a diverse suite of responsibilities. Travel is a key component of this role.
