A prominent Hereford breeder and buyer has refuted any sentiment that Angus cattle are more broadly favoured than Herefords.
Herefords Australia chair and Injemira Beef Genetics stud principal Marc Greening, Holbrook, NSW, said there was no evidence to suggest Angus cattle were outperforming their Hereford counterparts in any meaningful way.
“Buying cattle based on coat colour is a thing of the 1980s,” Mr Greening said.
